About Us

We are Waterside Ecumenical Projects, a registered christian charity set up to facilitate the local churches desire to work together to meet the needs of the community. This group is made up of representatives from the Methodist, Catholic, Community Church, Baptist, and Church of England denominations in the Hardley, Holbury, Blackfield, Fawley and Calshot areas.

Waterside Ecumenical Projects are committed to supporting people in times of need through life-changing sustainable projects which help people of all faiths and none.

We work in partnership with local communities in the Waterside area, aiming to demonstrate Jesus' love in action through practical, community based projects. We act as a voice representing the needs of those from the Waterside area who are in crisis and facilitate access to sources of help. We are an organisation built on Christian values of Compassion, Iintegrity and Community.

Waterside Ecumenical Projects launched Waterside Foodbank on December 15th 2008 and continue to run it.

Waterside Foodbank operates with volunteers out of its premises in Blackfield. During our first year, some 3845.9 kg of food was donated to us and we distributed some 224 emergency food boxes, meaning that 318 adults and 232 children have been fed throughout the year.

OUR PREMISES IN BLACKFIELD

The reasons for accessing the food are varied, but the lack of adequate provision by the statutory authorities when changes occur in people's circumstances, is by far the most pressing need for people in our area.
